How do you handle this situation because it’s really confusing. I when to a dentist and he said that I had a cavity… but I went to a different dentist to get a second opinion and he said that everything looked fine. After a few months, I went back to my first dentist and he recommended that I see a gum specialist… but I keep getting these conflicting diagnosis.

Who do I trust?

Answer:

This actually happens quite a bit… at least a lot more frequent than many people realize. It’s a really good question Jasmine.

Some dentists are more aggressively proactive compared to other dentists who might be a little more laid back. It sounds like that one dentist you went to was really proactive and wanted to make sure you took care of even the slightest issue before it became worse. However, you might have been able to take care of that issue yourself if you cleaned with extra special attention over the next few weeks.

What I would recommend doing is talking to your friends, family, or coworkers and ask them about their dentist. See if you can find one that has some strong recommendations from the people you know. That might be the one you should begin to go see.

Choosing a dentist is a big decision and when you finally find that right one… make sure you keep them!
